New friday night darts club = Cancelled dates

#1
Exclamation

Last night I was informed by Ray that there is now a Friday darts league.

Obviously they will be paying at the NMCC on Friday nights, however as is the nature of these things some will be away games.

The following dates are now unavailable to us.

9th September
7th October
28th October
18th November
25th November
16th December
6th January
20th January
10th March
31st March
12th May.

Ray is going to see if the Thursday of thse weeks is free and will let me know.

At the moment they only have one Friday night's team, if they start to run a 2nd then we may lose our venue, unless we move to another night..

Comments on a postcard or post below please.

I am not a regular visitor, but if I am around than any other weekday would work better for me, tbh. Mondays should actually work best. Having said that which week days would be available? Any or just a decision between Thursday, the other fridays or nothing at all?

I game because I am happy- I am happy because I game - it's a vicious cycle!

Thursday is the only NMCC club night that is occasionally free.

So we need to think about alternative dates and also alternative venues in Maidenhead.

Wow, that's quite a list, and as you say, if it expands it would mean that even if we settled on another day, it might be usurped.

Are we all free this Friday? I know the club has been cancelled due to darts, but it might be worth meeting up over a couple of pints for a discussion

Venue thoughts from Will

We will need to investigate.

What we need though is a room with space for four table (ATM) at a small price with storage for boards only.

Scenery and cloths seem to be brought by members.

We can cut down on the storage boards kept at a club as we rarely use many.

I am looking through various village halls etc. and I must admit I am not seeing prices which warm my heart. £14 an hour after 6pm for Pinder Hall in Cookham...

I was trying to Google hiring out Blandford House where the Maidenhead Reapers are based:

But that spits out pages of property articles.

The Thames Valley Wargamers that Chris McGill frequents are in the Bourne End Community Centre - Target Room but there's not a flat rate on their website:

As I work in Bourne End I will pop in during my lunch break later this week. (Unless Chris knows some details?)

Is leaving the general consensus? I'd happily move but I think it might be worth riding the tide in the mean time as who knows, the darts teams might not catch on.
I do think we should start looks my for a venue but the problem we have is numbers and money. The cricket club is cheep because of a deal we done with them when we first moved in (that and me father in law being president!)
Ultimately though, the cricket club is a money making organisation, so if the feel they can make more money another way, then it's their right to get other clubs/ teams in.

What are we looking for in a new venue?
